ISLAMABAD, July 30: Security has been enhanced at the residence of Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz in the Ministers' Enclave after he survived a suicide attack in Fatehjang on Friday evening.

A large number of army, police and other security personnel surrounded the residence of the prime minister in-waiting. They did not allow even ministers and MPs to meet Mr Aziz after the arrival of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General Gen Ehsan who had reportedly come to seek details of the incident.

But before his arrival, Federal Minister for Interior Faisal Saleh Hayat and Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal had separately met the finance minister. Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz had also come out of his house for a brief period and waved to people, including media persons, who had gathered outside.

In a brief talk with reporters, Mr Aziz vowed to continue his struggle for the welfare of the people of Pakistan. Mr Aziz said he was in high spirits and would work with more vigour for the betterment of the country. He requested the newsmen not to ask any question.
