JI shoora meeting
By Staff Reporter
LAHORE, July 30: MNA Liaquat Baloch opened a meeting of the provincial Shoora of the Jamaat-i-Islami here on Friday, alleging that President Musharraf's U-turns on various issues had turned the country's friends into foes.
He said the US had invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, bypassing the United Nations. Now that it was facing stiff resistance in both countries, it wanted to pull out, using the umbrella of the world body.
The JI leader said the Islamic countries were not willing to trust the UN because of what he called its hypocritical and cowardly role. Referring to the murder of two Pakistanis in Iraq, Mr Baloch said it had grieved the entire nation.
In his opinion the move to set up an Islamic force for Iraq was aimed at pitting Muslims against Muslims. Meanwhile, the JI held a demonstration on Friday against the murder of Raja Azad and Sajid Naeem in Iraq.
JI leaders demanded that the aggrieved families should be free to get a case registered against those responsible for the tragedy. They said Pakistan should not send its troops to Iraq in any case.
