GUJRANWALA, July 30: Slain woman Farzana alias Sherni was laid to rest at her native graveyard in Sherpur village, Ahmad Nagar, amid tight security on Friday.

She had been shot dead along with her police guard Carneeles Masih by rivals in an ambush when she was on way to Gujranwala from her village by police van.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Nagar police on Friday night registered a case against 15 people of the Basharati group, including former MPA Shaukat Hayat Chattha, Muhammad Azam of Sheikhupura and Qamar Abbas Chattha, on the report of Ijaz Hussain, a close relative of slain Farzana. Police raided their houses to arrest them, but they had already absconded.

DPO Saud Aziz and SP (Investigation) Zarat Kiani got information about the incident and directed the police to arrest the accused involved in the killing of Farzana and her guard immediately.

On the other hand, the heirs of slain Farzana accused Sherpur Chowki incharge ASI Arshad Bagri responsible for the incident. They claimed that the ASI had been informed about the nefarious designs of the killers some three days back, but he went on a leave. However, the ASI claimed that he had gone to Sialkot to appear before court.
