ISLAMABAD, July 29: Bilal Zaman had to draw in all his energies in overcoming a fighting Haider Jamal in the under-19 quarterfinals of the Hashim Khan National Junior Squash Championship on Thursday.

In what was the most engrossing match of the day at the Roshan Khan Complex, Bilal squeezed past his rival 9-6, 8-10, 9-4, 7-9, 10-9 to book his berth in the semifinals. Also making the last four were Amir Atlas who routed Faisal Zaman 9-1, 9-1, 9-0 and Shah Nawaz, a 9-1, 10-9, 9-6 winner against Adil Atlas. Aaqib Hanif walloped Sajid Khan in another quarterfinal 9-1, 9-1, 9-1.

On the girls side, the under-19 event saw Saima Shaukat, Maria Toor, Muqaddas Ashraf and Sara Awan, all advance to the semifinals.
