KARACHI, July 29: The executive council of the Karachi Union of Journalists has urged the government to ensure early implementation of the Seventh Wage Award, as the continued delay is increasing frustration among newspaper employees.

According to a press release, the KUJ council discussed in detail the meeting of PFUJ and APNEC leaders in Islamabad with the committee set up by the federal cabinet. It expressed its full confidence in the decisions taken by the PFUJ and APNEC leaders.

The meeting appealed to President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shujaat Hussain to intervene in the matter "as a national consensus has already been reached on implementation of the 7th Wage Award". The KUJ also demanded that implementation of the Wage Award should be linked with government advertisements.
