LARKANA, July 29: Vocational institutions for girls in the district are short of teaching staff, sources in the technical education department told this correspondent on Thursday.

Only two of the nine institutions in the district, located in Naudero and Ratodero, are well-staffed and running properly. The rest of the institutions in Larkana, Warah, Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, Dokri, Mad Bahiooo, Nasirabad and Kambar have one teacher each.

The district officer, technical education, in a letter dated April 7 informed the district nazim, DCO, and the director, Sindh technical education, about the shortage of the teaching staff but so far no response has been received from them.

The DO said the ban on recruitment had caused the shortage of staff. He said the department had been approached on several occasions for lifting the ban but to no avail. The DO had requested the Sindh government to allocate Rs6,246,000 for running the vocational schools. District Nazim Khurshid Ahmad Junejo had also approached the Sindh for early recruitment and sanctioning of the amount but nothing has been done as yet.

NADRA: Nazims of 80 union councils of the district have been asked to stay in touch with mobile teams of the National Database Registration Authority that will be visiting their union councils from Aug 2.

The chief whip of the district council, Amir Bakhsh Gaad, here on Thursday said the district government had approached Nadra for sending mobile teams to different areas in Larkana as majority of people were having problems in getting Computerized National Identity Cards.
