CHAMAN, July 28: Suspected Taliban fighters torched six trucks near the southern Afghan border town of Spin Boldak after seizing the vehicles and capturing their Pakistani drivers, an Afghan official said on Wednesday.

The attackers intercepted five trucks returning from Kandahar after unloading supplies on Tuesday, General Fateh Khan said by telephone from Spin Boldak to reporters in Chaman.

The militants, believed to number more than a dozen, later seized another Kandahar-bound truck loaded with charcoal from Pakistan. "They detained all the drivers and torched the vehicles," Gen Khan said. -AFP
