KARACHI, July 28: The Sindh chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has directed the provincial administration to strictly implement the ban on using loud speakers in mosques except for azan and Friday sermons.

The chief minister said that it had come to knowledge that the order was not being implemented at various places and was being violated. He directed the chief secretary and additional chief secretary (Home) for strict implementation of the ban all over the province.

He also directed that action be taken against people violating the ban. Meanwhile, chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim paid a surprise visit to Civil Hospital Sukkur and visited various sections of it including wards, operation theatres and cardiac centre.

He expressed grave concern over the mismanagement, unhygienic conditions and absence of doctors and staff in the hospital. Patients and their attendants also complained to the chief minister about various irregularities, problems and other grievances there.

Taking notice of the situation, Arbab issued immediate termination directives of executive district officer (Health) Sukkur Dr Ashfaque Paracha from service.

He maintained the he would frequently pay surprise visits to various government departments, educational institutions, hospitals and other public oriented projects so as to ascertain the conditions and services being rendered to the people there. He warned the officers and government employees to improve their performance and punctuality, else face severe disciplinary action.

US DIPLOMAT: The acting consul-general of the United States in Karachi, Kay Alske, called on Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim at the Chief Minister's House on Wednesday. She remained with the chief minister for some time and exchanged matters of mutual interest. - PPI/APP
