MIRPURKHAS, July 27: A procession was taken out by members of the Hindu community, including children, from the New Bus Terminal here on Tuesday to protest against delay in action against the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital administration.
The protesters held a demonstration outside the press club, raising slogans against the civil surgeon as well as doctors of the paediatrics ward. Speaking to the protesters, Kanji, Rano, Satram and Shareef said that Om Parkash, 12, died in the hospital because of non- availability of doctors and other staff in the ward.
They said that instead of taking action against the administration, a so-called inquiry committee had been ordered to protect allegedly inefficient doctors and paramedics. The protesters demanded that the civil surgeon should be replaced.
ENQUIRY: An inquiry by the Sindh Local Government Commission against alleged corruption and irregularities of the Mirpurkhas taluka municipal administration was initiated here on Tuesday on complaints of union council naib nazims.
The committee, comprising deputy director (accounts) Syed Ahmed Shah and local fund (audit) assistant director Arif Raza, recorded statements of naib nazims, Jahangir Mughal, Zakir Hussain, Abu Bakar Rind, Arshad Buland, Abdul Majeed Mughal, Imtiaz Panhwar and Akhlaq Panhwar.
It also recorded statements of Taluka Municipal Labour Union secretary-general Malik Ibrahim besides Mir Khalil, Mohammad Yousuf, Moharram Ali Kiryo and TMO Mumtaz Ali Magsi. Committee member Mr Raza said that taluka nazim Syed Inayat Ali had also submitted complaints against different naib nazims regarding misappropriation of funds.
ST RALLY: Activists of the Sunni Tehrik took out a procession here on Tuesday to protest against the murderous attack on party leader Abbas Qadri. Carrying banners and placards, they raised slogans against the Karachi police. They demanded that relevant authorities should ensure the arrest of the culprits involved in the attack.
ANNIVERSARY: The 50th birth anniversary of Asif Ali Zardari was celebrated by the People's Party Parliamentarians city and district office-bearers here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, leaders demanded that human rights organizations should play their role for release of Mr Zardari.
