KARACHI: People urged to help special children

KARACHI, July 26: Social worker and artist Jimmy Engineer has urged the philanthropists, artists and sportsmen to come forward for extending a helping hand to special children and urged them to contribute their time and money for the welfare of these children.

Speaking at a press conference at a local hotel, he announced expansion of his "Fun and Food" programme in other South Asian countries. The idea will bring a positive change among the special children and they feel themselves as a member of society.

Briefing about the programme, he said that he was going to launch the programme in its first phase in Sri Lanka as it is our neighbour and member of the SAARC forum. Five such programmes would be arranged in major cities of Sri Lanka from August 21-31, 2004, he added.

He maintained that he intended to hold same kind of "Fun and Food" programmes in Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal and India to enhance Pakistan's image. To a query, he urged the landlords to come forward for helping the poor especially under-privileged and special children. - PPI
