KARACHI, July 26: Adviser to Sindh chief minister on livestock and fisheries Faqir Mohammad Jadarn Mangrio has called upon all stockholders of fisheries sector to make efforts for the well-being of fishermen.

The advisor was speaking at a reception given in his honour by the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority Employees Union (CBA) here on Monday afternoon during his first visit to Karachi Fish Harbour.

He assured the audience that rights of each employee, irrespective of his status, would be fully protected according to the law. At the same time, he advised them to forget about the past and solve their differences by mutual consent and make joint efforts for the well-being of the community.

The advisor said he was keenly interested in solving the problems of the fishermen who are the backbone of the sector. Also present on the occasion were KFHA managing director Dr Mohammad Nawaz Baloch, Provincial Secretary Fisheries Mazhar Ali Setho, sitting chairman of the Fishermen Cooperative Society Abuzur Mariwara, KFHA Director Operation Anwarul Islam.

Earlier, during a briefing session, the advisor was briefed about the working of Karachi Fish Harbour and role of the Fishermen Cooperative Society and the KFHA. He also told the audience that work on the boundary wall of the harbour would be soon undertaken and every effort would be made to make it tidy.

The MD dispelled the impression that there has been a decline in the income of the Authority. On the other hand, he said the income had been raised as compared to the last year.
