HYDERABAD, July 26: The convener of the district council, Nawab Rashid Ali Khan, has expressed disappointment over non-presentation of the budget in the council.

Speaking at the council session on Monday, he said the budget should have been presented before the close of fiscal year in June. Mr Khan said in fact the budget was to be presented earlier on July 24 but the finance department sought more time to prepare the budget and it was then fixed for July 27.

He said when one line budget had been given by the Sindh government's finance ministry, then why the delay was being caused when expenses of salaries, development and non-development heads had been estimated.

Rana Mehmood Ali said the district government had not presented the audit report and it was high time that budget was presented in the council meeting. The session was adjourned after Jehangir Adil Shah pointed out a lack of quorum.

The district government had earlier announced to present budget estimates for year 2004-05 in the house on Monday, but it could not be done for unspecified reasons.
