'PPP chairperson to return by year-end'

QUETTA, July 25: Benazir Bhutto will return to Pakistan before the end of this year and she expects a political change to occur in the country soon, says PPP Balochistan's acting president Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari.
He was speaking at a reception held here on Sunday on his return from London after attending a meeting chaired by Benazir Bhutto. He was accompanied by the party's provincial acting general secretary, Hidayatullah Pirzada.
He said that Ms Bhutto had asked him to organize the party, adding that the PPP would play a vital role in connection with the restoration of democratic rule. Among others, the party's parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly Nawab Aslam Raisani and former senator Saifullah Khan Paracha attended the reception.
Nawabzada Lashkari said that members of the party's executive committee from Balochistan had apprised Benazir Bhutto about the political and organizational situation in the province and she was satisfied with the party's performance in Balochistan.
He said that the people should would be among the people by the end of December, adding that she could not remain away from the masses any longer. The acting president of the PPP Balochistan said that Benazir Bhutto would soon address party members in Quetta on telephone.
CONDEMNED: Members of the Balochistan chapter of the Youth for International Socialism staged a demonstration in front of the local press club on Sunday to condemn attack by a conservative organziation on its members in the Punjab University.
They also urged the government to apprehend the culprits involved in the incident. Some of the local leaders spoke on the occasion and cautioned that they would not be cowed down by violence, adding that reactionary forces would not be able to stop them from struggling for social justice in the society.
