KARACHI, July 25: Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani has constituted a committee to carry out maintenance works at Sindh Secretariat buildings, including the Tughlaq House and Barracks Blocks.

The committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Ghulam Sarwar Khero, and comprising secretary-general, Administration and Coordination, Mumtazur Rehman, besides other senior officers, would also monitor the sanitary conditions at the secretariat offices.

Speaking at a high-level meeting, the chief secretary said that proper maintenance could increase the estimated life of buildings. The committee would contact expert architects and present a report to the chief secretary for his approval concerning renovation of the Tughlaq House and Secretariat Barracks.

About construction and extension of residential block of 12 units at the Sindh House, Islamabad, the meeting was informed that each unit would have two bedrooms, kitchen and other facilities.

Mr Sanjrani directed the ACS (Development) to conduct a study tour of Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP Houses in Islamabad and present recommendations. The meeting also called for maintenance of the GOR colonies at the Sindhi Muslim Housing Society and Bath Island. The issue of shortage of funds for repair and maintenance works was also discussed at the meeting. -PPI
