4 Afghan soldiers killed


KABUL, July 24: Four Afghan soldiers have been killed in an ambush by suspected Taliban insurgents in eastern Afghanistan, officials said on Saturday.

The ambush occurred on Thursday night in Latee-Kandaw area of Dangam valley in Kunar province, some 220 kilometers east of Kabul.

"Four Afghan soldiers were killed in the attack," provincial governor Sayeed Fazel Akbar Agha said on Saturday.

Authorities have detained 11 suspects, including some Pakistani tribesmen, an information ministry official said.-AFP
