LAHORE, July 24: The hearing in a wilful default reference against Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat and others was adjourned untill July 31 by an accountability court as the judge was on leave on Saturday.
The defence counsel was to cross-examine investigating officer Javed Shah who had already recorded his statement before the court and had been partially cross-examined on the previous date of hearing. The court had exempted the accused from personal appearance.
Faisal Saleh and his nine relatives were facing charges of a wilful default of Rs241.07 million loan obtained in the name of Shah Jewna Textile Mills from a United Bank branch in 1991.
JAVED HASHMI: An accountability court on Saturday directed the NAB counsel to point out those properties which were allegedly possessed by the family members of PML-N acting president MNA Makhdoom Javed Hashmi so that they would submit their reply.
Earlier, Mr Hashmi's counsel pleaded before the court that those properties should be mentioned which were acquired by them allegedly through illegal means so that they could submit their replies.
The family of Mr Hashmi, six daughters MNA Maimona, Jaweria, Amna, Saadia, Bushra and Sufia, son-in-law Zahid Bahar Shah, wife Khurshid Begum, brother Mehar Shah and a business partner, Ghulam Yasin, were present in the court.
The court had summoned them as ostensible owners of the allegedly ill-gotten assets on the NAB application. The NAB accused Mr Hashmi of accumulating assets in the name of his family members.
The NAB charged him with possessing assets worth more than Rs28 million (assessed at the time of acquisition) in his own and his dependents name acquired from 1991 to 1999.
JUDGMENT RESERVED: An accountability court reserved its judgment in a reference against ex-MPA and Multan mayor Salahuddin Dogar after the completion of arguments by the parties. He was accused of misuse of his authority and award of contracts for octroi and toll tax collection to his favourites. The judgment would be announced on Aug 3.-PPI
