HYDERABAD: Resource centre for women planned

By Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, July 23: In order to promote products of women artisans at national and international level, the Sindh government will provide more than Rs40 million for the establishment of a women resource centre in the city.

This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development, Saeeda Malik, while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday. Officials of the social welfare department and representatives of the women development committee of the district council attended the meeting.

The minister urged the officials concerned to prepare a feasibility report and submit the same without any delay so that it could be implemented for the benefit of women specially belonging to rural areas.

She advised the women councillors to utilize their development funds by launching women-oriented projects to accelerate women development activities in Sindh. Ms Malik advised the non-government organizations advocating rights of women to assist the government in development activities under the citizens community board scheme for which 80 per cent funds would be provided by the government.

She directed the executive district officer of the CDD for arranging workshops and seminars to ensure women participation in development activities under the CCB scheme.
