LAHORE: Nine cases of theft, robbery in Lahore

LAHORE, July 23: Robbers and thieves on Friday struck nine times in various parts of the city. Two gunmen held Karim Haider at gunpoint at his shop in Badami Bagh and deprived him of Rs150,000 in cash. They thrashed him when he put up resistance.

Salesman of a company Sajjad Ahmad told the police that he was on his way to office when two armed men intercepted him in Ramgarh. He said the gunmen snatched Rs28,000 in cash and a cell phone from him and fled from the scene.

Two gangsters snatched Rs10,000 in cash from salesman Muhammad Riaz in Shadbagh. Two robbers stormed into the house of Khurram Shahzad in South Cantonment and made off with cash and gold jewellery worth Rs112,000.

Three gunmen stopped Mukhtar Ahmad in Neelam Block, Allama Iqbal Town, and took away Rs8,000 in cash and his cell phone. A Pajero was stolen from Batapur and a car and two motorcycles were taken away from other parts of the city.

SUICIDE: A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Green Town on Friday. Police said Sadiq, a father of three, had been worried over financial constraints. His body was returned to the family without autopsy.
