12 killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 22: Twelve people were killed in separate clashes in occupied Kashmir, police said Thursday. An Indian paramilitary trooper was killed in a landmine explosion in the Singhpora village.

Indian troops shot dead five militants in Kupwara, police said, adding that 13 houses, two shops and seven cowsheds were gutted in a fire that broke out during the clash. Two militants were killed in clashes with troops.

In Anantnag, militants killed a supporter of People's Democratic Party overnight. Militants shot dead a policeman and a civilian in Pulwama and Rajouri districts. A man died in a crossfire in Poonch district.-AFP
