QUETTA, July 22: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani on Thursday held a three-hour long meeting with chief of the Jamhoori Watan Party Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in Dera Bugti.

Both leaders are reported to have discussed various issues, including the situation in Sui, rocket attack incidents, mega projects and the establishment of cantonments in the province.

The sources said that the governor apprised Nawab Bugti about the government's stand on the issue of mega development projects launched by the federal government and sought his cooperation in this regard.

Nawab Bugti also informed him about the JWP's reservations in this regard and said that the party cannot support any project, which it deemed was against the interest of the people of Balochistan.

The JWP leader said that none of the nationalist parties were against the development of Balochistan, adding that the setting up of cantonments could not be described as development at all.

Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani told reporters after meeting with Nawab Bugti that during the meeting they discussed various issues, including provision of jobs to unemployed local youths, adding that priority would be given to provide jobs to youths belonging to Dera Bugti.

"I will try to compensate for injustices and mistakes committed with the people of the area by the governments in the past," Governor Owais Ghani said. "We will not repeat the mistakes of the past."

He said that efforts would be made to provide the local people better education, health, and communication facilities.
