KARACHI, July 22: The post-mortem examination of a lady who was killed by a stray bullet at her house in PECHS on Wednesday evening was delayed for five hours due to the unavailability of a lady medico-legal officer at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on Wednesday night.
Following the incident, the body of Ms Sajida was brought to JPMC for autopsy examination at around 6pm. However, due to unavailability of a lady medico-legal officer, the body was referred to the Civil Hospital, where the autopsy examination was finally carried out at around 11pm by In-charge, medico-legal section Civil Hospital Dr Rohina Hasan, who was called from her home.
The on-call lady medico-legal officer took time in reaching the hospital, as she resides in the city's suburbs, hospital sources said.
Hospital sources said that lady doctors were posted as medico-legal officers without knowing their consent.
The distance of their residence from the hospital was not considered by the authorities while making their appointments.
