FAISALABAD, July 21: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited took a serious notice of the increasing incidents of cable damage by the NLC staff during road construction projects.

The PTCL asked the authorities concerned to strictly instruct the field staff to ensure safety and protection of its network. In a letter issued by the divisional engineer Phones-II to the NLC project manager, it was noted that the PTCL headquarters hotline received a number of complaints about damaging of cables by the labour and field staff of the NLC during digging of roads.

It was further noted that the NLC officials were not intimating the PTLC authorities in time before digging of sites for the construction of roads and other development projects.

The DE Phones also asked to provide the maps of all sites where digging work was expected so that appropriate steps could be taken and field staff be made available. The people had lodged scores of complaints with the PTCL authorities and Wapda high-ups about damaging the phone and electric network by the NLC field staff.
