KARACHI: Govt decides to revive Milk Plant


KARACHI, July 21: A meeting chaired by the chief secretary, Muhammad Aslam Sanjrani, on Wednesday decided to revive the Karachi milk plant.

A committee was also constituted in this respect to be headed by Additional Chief Secretary Ghulam Sarwar Khero, which would determine a line of action for the milk plant's revival, keeping in view the best possible options so that it could be established on sound footing.

The chief secretary directed that production cost be kept at minimum, while maintaining high hygienic standards. Meanwhile, at another meeting, the chief secretary reviewed measures for installing lights at the underpass of the FTC flyover.

A sub-committee was formed in this connection with EDO Works and Services of the city government Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui as its head. It would suggest steps in a week's time after establishing contacts with the relevant departments.

At the meeting, the managing director of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) presented technical points regarding the electrification of underpasses of flyovers. He said that the task could be performed using imported cable and the assistance of foreign technical staff. Mr Sanjrani praised the KESC for its cooperation in public sector projects. - APP
