KARACHI, July 19: Sindh home minister Rauf Siddiqui on Monday directed that committees consisting of representatives of political parties and SHOs in the jurisdiction of each police station be established to maintain peace in their respective areas.
He issued such directives presiding over a meeting on law and order at his office. The minister made it clear that the SHOs would be held responsible for any crime, including drug-trafficking their area.
Speaking at a meeting with members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the KCCI, Rauf Siddiqui called for a close coordination among law-enforcement agencies and masses for establishment of peaceful atmosphere in Sindh.
He said people had lost faith in the police because politicians in the past used it for their motives and paralysed the whole system. "Present government is trying its best for providing justice to each segment of society as peace cannot prevail in any civilized society without justice," he said.
Rauf Siddiqui said that the peace could only be established when criminals are rooted out. He advised business community to inform police on 15 about extortionists belonging to any organization. -PPI
