KARACHI: Fisherman dies in Landhi prison

KARACHI, July 18: An Indian fishermen who had been languishing in the Landhi jail for three years died on Sunday. Thirty-year-old Shedi, son of Nathu, complained of stomach pain and was taken to the jail hospital on Sunday morning.

As his condition did not improve, he was sent to the Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctors. The deceased was among a group of Indian fishermen who were nabbed by the maritime authorities for entering Pakistan's territorial waters.

ACCIDENT: Two people died and nine others were injured in an early morning accident on Shahrae Faisal. Police said a pick-up (PE-7075) carrying 11 labourers of an automobile assembling unit and a minibus (JE-7047) collided with each other at the traffic signal of Hotel Mehran.

A car and a truck rammed into the two vehicles. Haji Bux and Mohammad Gulzar, who were on the pick-up, died and their nine colleagues were injured.
