BSO opposes aims behind mega plans

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, July 17: The central council session of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has rejected all mega projects launched in Balochistan, including Gwadar deep seaport, Mirani dam and coastal highway describing them a conspiracy against Balochs.

The newly elected chairman of the BSO, Amanullah Baloch, giving details of the council session at a press conference, here on Saturday said that the BSO would resist all such conspiracies against Balochistan.

He said that the council session had decided not to accept any agreement reached between Islamabad and international companies regarding exploration of oil and gas and other natural resources as these resources only belong to the Baloch nation.

"The Baloch people have nothing to do with international agreements signed by Islamabad regarding their resources," Mr Baloch said, adding that as a nation Balochs were not party to any policy making institution and it was not obligatory for them to honour any commitment made by the federal government at international level.

He said that it was decided in the council session that in view of this situation the BSO would launch an organized movement with the help and cooperation of all segments of the Baloch society and Baloch national leaders at all level. It was also decided that the BSO would struggle for making possible the formation of " United National Front" for the protection of the interests of Baloch people.

The student organization also demanded that former chairmen of BSO Abdul Ghani Bungulzai, Aslam Gargnari, Noor Mari, Haider Baloch and other political workers should be released without further delay and all military and semi-military forces should be withdrawn from interior of the province.
