QUETTA, July 17: A powerful explosion rocked Quetta late on Friday night when a bomb went off in the residential area of Pir Abul-Kahir road, police said. No person was killed or injured in the blast. But windowpanes of various houses and buildings close to the site smashed.

Unknown people had planted the bomb near the house of Mohammad Aslam, a contractor living in a street of Pir Abul-Kahir road. It exploded at 9.40pm with a big bang causing panic among the locals.

"It was a home-made bomb planted with timer," an official of bomb disposal squad said.
