PESHAWAR, July 16: A meeting presided over by NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani here on Friday approved the province's proposals for the National Trade Policy 2004-05.

The meeting was held to discuss the proposals which would be discussed with the federal commerce minister in Islamabad. The meeting was attended among others by NWFP's Chief Secretary Ijaz Qureshi, the secretary industry and officials of the agriculture department.

The proposals included inland freight rebate on raw and finished exports from the NWFP, the establishment of a model quarry and rock mining training institute, the establishment of an export trade center in Peshawar and the establishment of a bonded warehouse in Torkham.

The meeting also discussed a proposal to set up a date processing plant in Dera Ismail Khan, an agriculture export processing zone in the proposed industrial city in Jalozai and the establishment of onion and apple treatment plants in Swat.

The chief minister directed the officials concerned to expedite work on approved projects.
