KARACHI: Several localities without water

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 16: An acute water shortage continues to persist in various parts of the city for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday.

The hard-hit localities included Burnes Road, Gulistan-i- Jauhar's blocks 3 and 4, parts of Garden East, Model Colony, Kazimabad, Baldia Town, Clifton's Block 2 and North Karachi's Sector 11-C.

Complaints of persisting water shortage have also been received from the residents of Owais Homes, situated in Gulistan-i-Jauhar's Block 19. Residents of the affected localities complained that although water shortage had been persisting in their localities since the advent of summer season, the KWSB officials concerned have not yet taken measures to restore the normal supply despite a number of complaints lodged with them.

They deplored that in the absence of piped water they have no choice but to either purchase private tankers at exorbitant rates or to consume sub-soil unhygienic water at the cost of their health. They urged the KWSB to immediately help resolve their lingering water issue as they cannot afford private tankers for such a long period.
