Party seeks share in NWFP cabinet
By Our Correspondent
PESHAWAR, July 15: The Jamiat Ahl-i-Hadith Pakistan has urged the NWFP government to accomodate the party in the provincial cabinet and said that it should be given what it termed authoritative slots in the Frontier government.
Leader of the Jamiat Ahl-i-Hadith Hafiz Ibtisam Ilahi Zaheer was addressing a press conference here at the local press club on Thursday. He said that the party was being re-organized, adding that the process had been completed in Punjab and a large number of ulema had been contacted in this regard.
He said that he was visiting the NWFP on the invitation of the party's provincial executive council. He said that the party's re-organized structure would be announced between August 20 and 30, saying that at least 50 members from the NWFP would be accomodated in the party's central executive council and the task had been assigned to Dr Zakir Shah, Habibur Rahman and Hafiz Idrees.
He said there were 400 party members in the party's central executive council, adding that a majority of them were supporting him in the party's re-organization.
Referring to his differences with Prof Sajid Mir, he said that their differences started after the former had refused to conduct mid-term party elections and what he termed deviation from his commitments, adding that he would support him even now, if he (Prof Sajid Mir) quit his office and announced mid-term polls. He clarified that the re-organization should not be construed as a new faction in the making.
