Pakistan ranks 142nd in human development


UNITED NATIONS, July 15: Following are the 177 countries ranked in the 2004 Human Development Index, issued by the UN Development Programme on Thursday.

The index is based on per-capita income, educational levels, health care and life expectancy in measuring a nation's well-being. Accordingly, India is at 127th, Bangladesh 138th and Pakistan at 142nd position. The ranking is:
