KARACHI: City nazim discusses uplift plans with CM

KARACHI, July 15: The city nazim, Naimatullah Khan, on Wednesday called on Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and briefed him about development schemes and plans of the city government.

The chief minister asked Naimat to ensure quality while implementing development schemes. He also said that repair work of city roads must be completed before the start of rains.

The city nazim was also asked to improve the system of water supply and streetlights in the city's backward localities in order to provide relief to the common people. A better liaison between provincial and district governments was called for for greater welfare of people.

Meanwhile, the MNA from Jacobabad and chairman Standing Committee on Water and Power, Saleem Jan Mazari also called on Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Wednesday. Mr Mazari informed the chief minister that a comprehensive report was being prepared regarding public complaints and problems concerning WAPDA and the KESC.

He said he was working out a trade-wise formula with reference to Sindh in the light of seminars held in various cities. The committee, he informed, had decided that power supply to such organisations which do not pay power bills would be cut off, but severing power supply for water supply sources at important organisations and hospitals would, however, be avoided. A line of action was drawn at the meeting with regard to various problems. - APP
