By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, July 15: Activists of the City Forum took out a procession in Ranipur town on Thursday to demand urgent repair of the western embankment of the Rohri Canal near the town. Led by Hafizullah Memon, the procession emerged from the Rohri Canal bridge and later terminated at the press club.

The activists of the forum, founded by political and social workers, including those of the People's Party Parliamentarians, Sindh National Front and Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, said that the embankment, situated close to the town, had weakened owing to the negligence of the irrigation department.

A breach could occur at any time, inundating Ranipur, Gambat, Darza Sharif and other parts of the area, besides the National Highway, they added.

Motive behind the murder was said to be some old enmity between two groups. However, no case was registered till the filing of this report. In another incident, a labourer, Mohammad Qasim Kalhoro, 22, resident of Tagial Kalhoro village, was killed in Lala Bakhsh Kalhoro village, late on Wednesday night.
