KARACHI: Man confesses to friend's murder

KARACHI, July 15: A security guard surrendered himself to the police on Thursday after killing his friend and dumping his body in a sewerage line in Orangi Town. Police said that suspect Hafiz, a security guard, had killed his friend Shahid, an owner of a towel factory four days back.

After killing the victim, the suspect cut his body into several pieces and dumped the mutilated body in a gutter. Police said the suspect on Thursday morning walked into the Mominabad police station and narrated the entire story.

He told the police he had not been able to sleep for the last four days after killing Shahid. Police said, according to Hafiz, the deceased was having an affair with his wife. Following the disclosure, police and Edhi workers recovered the mutilated body of Shahid from a drainage line in Faqir Colony, Shah Mohallah, Mominabad.

ARRESTED: The police on Thursday arrested two armed suspects after a shootout at Malir Halt. Two armed were looting shops near Malir Halt when someone from the neighbourhood informed the police on 15.

Police reached the spot following which a shootout between the police and armed suspects broke out. One of the suspects, Zahid was wounded. Police also recovered two TT pistols and looted valuables from their possession.

ACCIDENT: A young pedestrian died in a road accident in Saddar on Thursday. Police said Muhammad Zaman, 25, was crossing a busy street when a car knocked him down. He was taken to the JPMC where he died during treatment.

Police said the vehicle owner later reach a compromise with the victim's family. In another accident, a labourer died when a truck crushed him near Port Qasim. Police said Inayat was asleep on a pavement when a speeding truck ran over him. The vehicle escaped from the spot.
