HARIPUR: MMA seeks transfer of policemen

By Our Correspondent

HARIPUR, July 14: A meeting of district chapters of component parties of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), criticized the performance of Haripur police and demanded transfer of district police officer (DPO) and the ASP of headquarters.

According to a spokesman, a meeting of the district chapter of MMA held here also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the district. The participants of the meeting said that the district police had failed in stopping the growing trend of waylaying, robberies, burglaries and murders in Haripur.

They regretted that those involved in the Talokar triple murder case had not been arrested nor those who had committed robberies in different parts of the city were traced.

They said that the current spate of murders, robberies and other crimes had shocked the citizens who had started feeling insecure in the presence of police. They also accused the Haripur police of not taking the MMA into confidence over the law and order situation.
