CAIRNS, July 13: Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath was fined 25 per cent of his match fee for making an audible obscenity on the final day of the second Test against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
McGrath was fined 3,000 dollars (US$2,200) and reprimanded by English match referee Chris Broad for shouting an obscenity after New Zealand umpire Billy Bowden turned down a leg before wicket appeal on Sanath Jayasuriya.
The report was submitted by all four officiating umpires, who said that McGrath's foul language could be heard from the boundary line. Cricket Australia said that it would take no further action against McGrath under the Australian players' code of conduct. -AFP
