ISLAMABAD, July 11: German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer will arrive here on July 21 on a three-day official visit, Foreign Office sources told Dawn on Sunday.

During the visit, Mr Fischer will hold talks on a range of issues with Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri. He is also likely to call on President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shujaat Hussain.

The visit is taking place in the immediate backdrop of the Saarc Council of Ministers meeting scheduled for July 20. Germany would be interested in the latest developments and initiatives on peace between Pakistan and India, said a source.

Sources said the two sides would also focus on establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan. Germany has made significant contributions to the ISAF in Kabul, and the two sides would share general security assessment and concerns for the region, said the source.
