HYDERABAD, July 11: Parents of a boy have accused the Tando Jam police of filing a false narcotics case against their son and appealed to the authorities concerned to order his release in the light of a report of the District Public Safety Commission.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday, Tassawur Khan Kaimkhani and his wife, Amina, of Muzaffarabad Colony, Tando Jam, said the DPSC report had proved that the case against their son, Anwar Shahzad, was false.

They said according to the FIR registered by Tando Jam police station SHO Shahjehan Lashari, their son was arrested on the Khatian Road while selling charas. However, they said their son was asleep when constable Mohammad Saleem came to their house on April 12 and took him to the police station where he was tortured and implicated in a case for possessing one kilogramme and 10 grams of charas.

Giving the background, they said ASI Sher Mohammad alias Shera Ustad had offered the hand of his daughter to their son Shahzad in marriage. They said the offer was, however, refused because of the bad reputation of Shera Ustad, who was their relative.

It was known to residents of the colony that he was running a prostitution den while his brother, police constable Raza Ali, was operating a charas den, they alleged. The boy's parents said people of the area were frightened of them and they could not complain as both were policemen.

They said a son of Shera Ustad was also a police constable. They observed that this was the reason that their son was implicated in the case. They appealed to the president, prime minister, Sindh governor, chief minister and the IGP to provide them with justice in the light of the DPSC report and take action against the corrupt policemen.
