KARACHI, July 8: The Pakistan Muslim League will form committees at the federal and provincial levels to recommend solutions to the problems of each department. Up to 80 per cent of the members of these committees would be workers and party leaders, he said.

This was stated by Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain while speaking to PML's provincial leadership and workers at the State Guest House here on Thursday. He said only 20 per cent members of the proposed committees would be taken from the assemblies and the Senate, adding that these committees would be dealing with the problems of the education, health, women development, and Zakat departments.

Chaudhry Shujaat, who is also president of the PML, said these committees would play the role of a bridge between the government and the party and added that the viewpoint of the coalition partners would also be accommodated.

He underlined the need for creating unity among the party ranks. "I want that there should be no monopoly in the party." He said that Finance Minister and prime minister-in-waiting Shaukat Aziz would also keep a close liaison with the party workers.

Referring to Mr Aziz's pre-budget consultations and meetings with the party leadership, he said it was encouraging that the future prime minister was taking interest in the party matters as well.

Speaking on the occasion, PML Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the proposed committees would identify faults in the functioning of the departments and suggest solutions to the problems.

Earlier, Senator Nisar Memon said that people of Sindh were thankful to the prime minister that he had raised voice against their sense of deprivation. Prominent among those attended the meeting were Mr Aziz, Information Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmed and Religious Affairs Minister Ijazul Haq. -APP
