KARACHI, July 4: Sindh police Inspector General Syed Kamal Shah has asked the officials concerned to improve training of the force, and proposed to include a subject, "anti-ambush," in their course to enable them to effectively deal with any untoward situation.

Speaking at a meeting attended by senior police officers at the Saleem Wahidi Auditorium on Sunday, he asked them to take concrete steps to further improve intelligence system in the province.

The IG asked the CCPO and police officers of Hyderabad and Sukkur regions to take effective measures to curb wall chalking and closely monitor distribution of handbills and pamphlets outside mosques, besides mounting of banners.

He also asked officers to ensure implementation of a ban on misuse of loudspeakers to discourage provocative speeches at mosques. The meeting was told that 86 alleged terrorists belonging to 15 religious outfits and wanted in 155 cases were arrested during the last six months.

Similarly, 98 alleged terrorists were arrested, who were involved in 82 cases of bomb blasts, target killings and kidnapping for ransom. The courts had convicted 51 of these terrorist for death sentence and 28 for life imprisonment, the meeting was further informed. -APP
