LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), July 3: A teacher thrashed and broke the arm of a five-year-old girl in the Landi Kotal tehsil in the Khyber Agency for not responding to her queries.

Rakhmania, a student of preparatory class, was subjected to severe beating by her teacher, Ms Mumlikat, who is a teacher at a school in the Haji Gulab Kelli area.

Rakhmania, who lives in Lakhkar Kelli, was later taken to hospital where her arm was plastered.

Fathers of children studying at the school have appealed to the director of education, Fata, to take disciplinary action against the teacher concerned. A number of parents have threatened to withdraw their children from the school if the teacher was not transferred immediately.

It was learnt that Ms Mumlikat was posted at the school some 18 years ago and had suffered a paralysis attack some six years ago.

One of the colleague of the teacher at the school said that the teacher concerned had been in the habit of meting out severe physical punishment to her students.
