KARACHI: Officials told to realize responsibilities

KARACHI, July 3: The chief secretary, Muhammed Aslam Sanjrani, on Saturday held a high-level meeting and directed the concerned officials to perform their responsibilities with prudence in connection with removal of encroachments and controlling environmental pollution.

On the occasion, the chief controller of buildings, Brig A. S. Nasir, presented a report to the chief secretary regarding removal of encroachments around the historic Mohatta Palace alongwith the dens of drug addicts.

The chief secretary appreciated the action and issued directives to the city government and other respective departments to confront any impediments, which might come in the way, with courage and determination.

Sanjrani pointed out that encroachments, narcotics, illegal occupation and anti-social activities were like cancer for society, and therefore, one should perform his responsibilities with a sense of duty to ensure social uplift.

The meeting also considered certain problems of the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD). It was decided to seek a report from ABAD about their problems by July 8.-APP
