MIRPURKHAS, July 3: A 30-foot-wide breach occurred in the Pran Shakh, emanating from the Jamrao canal, at RD-28 near Mir Khalid-ji-Landhi, Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka, on Friday morning that inundated a vast area of farmland.

Following the breach, hundreds of villagers with tractors and irrigation officials with sandbags reached the spot to plug the gap.

The breach was plugged after 16 hours of hectic efforts by both the villagers and the irrigation officials.

TEENAGER KILLED: A teenaged boy was stabbed to death by his cousin on the pretext of Karo-kari in Deh 190 village, Digri taluka, on Saturday.

Taj Mohammad, son of Mohammad Ismail, 19, a resident of Sofan Shah village, Digri taluka, was stabbed to death by his cousin, Allah Jurio Machhi, who suspected that Taj had illicit relations with his wife.

After committing the crime, the accused escaped.

Body of the deceased boy was sent to the Digri taluka hospital for autopsy.

A case has been registered against the accused.

SUICIDE: Jan Bibi, teenaged wife of Washo Mari, reportedly tried to commit suicide by taking pesticides in Mori 78, Mirpurkhas taluka, on Saturday.

Motive behind the incident was said to be some domestic affair.

She was brought to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital in a critical condition, where she was pronounced dead after some time.

The body was handed over to relatives.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A detainee reportedly tried to commit suicide in the custody of the Satellite Town police on Saturday by injuring himself with a broken bottle.

Shesh Mardan, son of Ali Mohammad Mari, was arrested in a murder case by the Khan police. He was held in the lock-up of the Satellite Town police station where he reportedly tried to commit suicide by causing injuries to himself with a piece of broken syrup bottle.

However, he was taken to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital in time.

ROBBERY: Four robbers deprived a government contractor of the Highway department near the Gama Stadium here on Saturday and escaped.
