GUJRANWALA, June 30: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education announced on Wednesday the result of secondary school certificate examination, 2004.

At a news conference at his office, Gujranwala BISE chairman Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri said the grade system had been implemented this year by the education department. However, he said, pass/fail system was adopted for the students appearing in the examination with old course. He said 19,370 candidates appeared in the old course, of whom 7,891 got through.

As many as 112,846 candidates appeared with the new course and all of them were declared successful. Muhammad Zukhruf of the Government High School, Daska, (Sialkot) got over all first position by obtaining 789 marks.

Kifaya Ali of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Helder Road (Sialkot) and Fraz Tahir of the Government Higher Secondary School, GT Road, (Gujranwala) bagged second and third positions by securing 777 and 776 marks, respectively. All these candidates got A+ grade.

SCIENCE GROUP (BOYS): Muhammad Zukhruf clinched first position, Fraz Tahir second and Aqeel Asghar of Hafizabad bagged third position. They secured 789, 776, and 775 marks, respectively.

GIRLS: Kifaya Ali bagged first position with 777 marks, Maria Mahmood of the Saint Peter English High School (Gujranwala) and Chaman Nasrullah of the Jamiatul Banat Higher Secondary School shared second position with 774 marks each and Saba Rasheed of the Saint Peter High School got third position with 763 marks.

GENERAL GROUP (BOYS): Adnan Arshad of the Government High School, Karnama (Gujrat) bagged first position by obtaining 676 marks, H Syed Hamid Farooq Bokhari of the Gujrat private student second and Awais Ali of the Allama Iqbal High School (Sialkot) third by securing 659 and 639 marks, respectively.

GIRLS: Donia Dar of the Government Girls High School, Jalalpur Jattan (Gujrat) got first position with 746 marks and Aisha Ehsan of the Gil Road (Gujranwala) second with 742 marks.

Tayba Altaf Alvi of the Government Girls High School, Miana Gondal (Mandi Bahauddin), Kiran of the Government Muslim Girls High School (Gujranwala) and Naheed Akhtar of the Government Girls High School, Mubarak Colony, (Gujranwala) shared third position with 724 marks each.
