SIALOKT: Two brothers drown

SIALKOT, June 30: Two young sons of a local landlord drowned in the BRB Canal near Daska on Wednesday. Khalid (17) and Javaid (12), the sons of Muhammad Rafiq of Ranjhal-Daska village, went to take bath in the canal.

While swimming, they drifted to deep waters and could not make to banks. Their bodies have yet not been fished out. It may be mentioned that the district government has already imposed a ban on swimming in all the rivers and canals.

KILLED: A pregnant woman was killed on Wednesday with repeated blows of hockey sticks and iron rods by her brothers, mother and sister for honour in Barkat Town, Daska town.

Neelam Bibi had contracted love marriage with Abid Hussain some two years back against the will of her parents. On Wednesday, she came to her house to meet her family members.

But her brothers Mudassar, Sabir, Dilawar, mother Jamila Bibi and sister Munawar Bibi attacked her with iron rods and hockey sticks, killing her instantly. Later, the attackers escaped from the scene.

RECOVERED: A local court bailiff raided the Sambrial police station and recovered a youth kept there in illegal detention. The district and sessions judge summoned the Sambrial SHO to appear before court with complete record on July 8.

Meanwhile, ADSJ Nasir Ahmad Awan ordered the Uggoki police to register a case against its SHO Aziz Cheema, ASI Tariq and constables Iqbal and Javaid for raiding the house of Akhlaq, thrashing him and harassing his family.
