QUETTA, June 29: A Frontier Corp soldier was killed in a rocket attack on the FC wing headquarters in Kohlu on Tuesday morning, officials said. Sources said assailants fired around one dozen rockets at the FC headquarters at around 6.30 am.

Most of the rockets missed their target and exploded in open areas. However, one rocket hit the wall of the FC wing headquarters building killing the FC man. "One FC soldier was killed in the attack," a senior officer of the Kohlu administration confirmed to Dawn when contacted over telephone. The blast damaged the FC building.

Meanwhile the operation against outlaws for the rocket attacks and landmine explosions were continuing in Sond area of Mawand tehsil. The administration has sent FC units to help the levies force which had launched the operation in the area on Sunday last.

"Three outlaws has been killed and four others injured," a senior FC officer said in Quetta, adding that exchange of fire and rockets were reported in the area. He said that law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the whole area to arrest the outlaws.

However, so far no arrest was reported in this connection. The Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf supported the operation in the area and said that it was the responsibility of the government to protect the life and property of the people.
