COLOMBO, June 29: The Liberation Tigers, who are accusing the government of readying for war, is likely to take up the question of Sri Lanka army backing renegade commander 'Karuna' when the LTTE meets with the special Norwegian peace envoy, Eric Solheim.
Solheim arrived in the country on Monday and is scheduled to meet the LTTE hierarchy today (Wednesday). "The Sri Lankan government should come clean on this matter if it wants to preserve the bona fide on which the peace talks are based," LTTE sources said referring to the controversy that Sri Lankan military assisted the LTTE renegade militant.
The LTTE sources slammed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's United National Front ((UNF) and President Chandrika Kumaratunga's United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) for 'damaging' the peace process by covertly backing Karuna.
