Balochistan CM rules out political change

By Our Staff Reporter

QUETTA, June 26: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf has ruled out any political change in the province. "No change is coming in Balochistan's coalition government," Mr Jam Yousuf said while taking to newsmen at his chamber after the assembly session.

"I am enjoying the majority of the House and all rumours about the change of the Leader of the House in the provincial assembly are baseless and wrong," he said, adding that some quarters were spreading such rumours to destabilize the system.

When asked that some people were mentioning the name of Mir Abdul Rehman Jamali as the new Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mr Yousuf said: "If he (Mir Jamali) is enjoying the support of the majority members of the House then he must prove it in the House." The chief minister said his government was stable and was serving the people of the province.

He refused to make any comment on the resignation of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

"I cannot say anything in this regard." He, however, expressed the hope that with the exit of Mr Jamali development schemes launched in the Balochistan province would not be affected and the new prime minister would continue paying special attention to the speedy development of the province.

He said it was a good sign that after the resignation of Mr Jamali the PML and its allies had jointly accepted the nomination of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as the new prime minister.

Meanwhile, Provincial Chief Minister Jam Yousuf had a meeting with Secretary-General of Pakistan Muslim League Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and discussed various issues with him.

He apprised him about problems being faced by the province. Senator Mushahid Hussain assured the chief minister that he would take up these issues with the party high command.

COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM: Federal Investigation Agency Director-General Mohib Asad said on Thursday that a computerized system would be introduced on the border in Chaman for checking fake documents.

During a visit to the FIA border post in Chaman, he said the checkpoint would be shifted to the Friendship Gate constructed on the border.

He said more FIA staff, including a woman searcher would be posted in Chaman soon.

Pishin Scouts Commandant Col Basit Rana briefed him about steps taken by the government for making the border safe. He said no one was allowed to cross the border without legal documents.

CASES REGISTERED: Police have registered cases against the President of Balochistan National Party, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, and four other leaders of the party for delivering anti-government speeches in a public meeting.

Police have also arrested Ghulam Rasool Mengal, chief of Khuzdar BNP, on the same charges.

The other leaders against whom the cases have been registered are Habib Jalib Baloch, secretary-general of BNP, Abdul Rauf Mengal MNA, Mohyuddin Baloch, provincial president of BSO and Amanullah Baloch.

The public meeting was held in Panjgur earlier this month in which they had criticized the government.
