ISLAMABAD: Pindi girls clinch most of top positions: FBISE declares SSC-II results

ISLAMABAD, June 26: Girl students belonging to different institutions of Rawalpindi clinched most of the top positions in the matriculation examination of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), according to the results declared here on Saturday.

This year, pass percentage remained at 71.35, compared to 66.35 per cent last year. As many as 41,836 regular candidates appeared in the SSC part-II examinations held in March-April 2004.

Unlike the previous year's result, this time, majority of the top positions, except the overall first position, were clinched by girls. Ali Safdar of Army Public Inter Science College, Gujranwala, secured overall first position by obtaining 799 marks. He also stood first in the science group.Last year, the highest marks obtained by a boy student were 790.

Sehrish Azam of Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi, secured first position among girls in the science group by obtaining 790 marks.

Myra Ahmed of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi, Malik Mohammad Omair of PAF Model Intermediate College, Sargodha, and Filza Habib of Hamza Army Public School, Hamza Camp, Rawalpindi, have shared the second position in the science group by obtaining 789 marks each.

Neelofur Hassan of F.G. Girls Public School, Abid Majid Road, Rawalpindi, and Tuba Tariq of Ranger Public School, Mandi Bahauddin, secured third position in the science group by obtaining 788 marks each. Usman Ahmed of Air Base Iner College, Sargodha, secured third position in the group among boys by obtaining 787 marks.

In the general group, Hafiz Khuram Nadeem Abbasi, a private student, bagged first position among boys by securing 736 marks. Likewise, two private students, Hafiz Haris Saleem and Hafiz Suleman Khalid, bagged second and third positions by securing 734 and 722 marks, respectively, in the same group.

Among girls, Rabia Bibi of F.G. Girls Public High School, Abbotabad Cantonment, secured first position in general group by obtaining 731 marks. Amna Qamar, a private candidate, stood second by securing 708 marks, while Wajeeha Sundas of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi, stood third by obtaining 695 marks.

The result statistics showed that 53,275 candidates appeared in SSC-II examination, of which 37,926 students (19,798 boys and 18,128 girls ) passed all the subjects.

Of the total successful candidates, 3,423 students (2,043 girls and 1,380 boys) secured A-1 grade. As many as 6,575 students (3,420 girls and 3,155 boys) passed the exams in A- grade, 9,225 passed in B-grade and 11,406 in C-grade.

This year, 42 cases of unfair-means were detected. The mark- sheets of regular candidates will be dispatched to the heads of their respective institutions, while those of private and ex- candidates within the country will be sent to the addresses given in their admission forms for the purpose.

The board has also asked the candidates, whose results have been withheld for want of fee/eligibility, to resolve these discrepancies immediately to get their results.

The last date for the submission of forms for the supplementary examination is July 15, 2004.

The FBISE has also announced that SSC Supplementary Examination 2004 will commence from September 2004. The result is also available on the FBISE website, www.fbise.edu.pk.
