PESHAWAR: JI schedules jirga against FCR law
By Our Correspondent
PESHAWAR, June 25: The Jamaat-i-Islami will hold a peace jirga in the North Waziristan agency on Sunday against the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) with a view to develop a consensus to amend the law.
According to a press release issued here from Al-Markaz Al-Islami on Friday, Zarnoor Afridi, JI deputy secretary-general for the tribal areas, said his party was making preparations to hold jirgas in all tribal units, including Mohmand, Bajaur, Kurram, Aurakzai and South Waziristan.
Mr Afridi said the rights of the people living in tribal areas were violated under the FCR which was a law imposed on tribesmen by the British rulers.
Various Jamaat leaders, including NWFP JI chief Sirajul Haq, deputy chief MNA Haroonur Rashid and other party leaders will attend the jirgas to be held in North Waziristan on Sunday.
